“If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.”
The Link Centre approach to young people is innovative and affirmative. |

Curriculum and Learning
We develop an intensive curriculum for fast-track improvement of all attendees, tailored for each person, and based on best practice and current research.
Using individual Learning Profiles together with Individual Learner Agreements, the Link Centre approach enables focused, accredited development. Our staff continuously builds reflection on the learning outcomes and individual discussion of achievements and progress with attendees.
Young people work towards attaining competency in Certificate I in General Education for Adults (Foundation Level), equivalent to years 7 or 8 in secondary education. This curriculum has been chosen for its flexibility in delivery and assessment.
We utilise the Reading LINK – Decoding Program to develop marked improvements in the reading levels of attendees.
Mathematics and numeracy are extensively covered in the curriculum, together with history and geography.
A unique feature of the program is the manner in which we carefully manage, over the course of time and on a one-on-one basis, the re-introduction of attendees into mainstream classes at Laverton P-12 and surrounding schools, preparatory to the full-time transition to secondary college.
Community Outreach and Vocational Pathways
We provide opportunities for participants to partake in excursions into the community, and vocational training through regional stakeholders.
Health and well-being is specifically addressed through focused sporting, self development and awareness experiences.
Long term employability skills are also supported through the Federally funded Youth Pathways program with attendees being provided individual career counseling and goal setting.
